Ubud vs Nusa Dua: Getting Around

Ubud:

Ubud is about 1.5 hours by car from the airport. Traffic builds up around temples and other tourist spots.

Many tourists hire Bluebird taxis with metered service or use ride-hailing apps with dynamic pricing like Grab and Gojek. In some areas, local community drivers forbid ride-sharing app operators to pick passengers up.

The town is compact with a walkable centre. Most cafés, shops, and hotels are spread across nearby villages.

Nusa Dua:

Nusa Dua is about 15–20 minutes by car from the airport. The main route is the Bali Mandara Toll Road, which makes arrivals and departures easy.

Most visitors use private cars or taxis to get around.

Nusa Dua also has a secure tourism enclave called the International Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) zone. It includes resorts and shops linked by paved walkways.

Nusa Dua also connects easily by car to Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur, and Uluwatu.
